Project Description
During my time at Oneupweb, I collaborated with The Jed Foundation to enhance the user experience for their Set to Go program. The challenge was transforming their Right Fit Worksheet from a static PDF into an engaging online experience.
I began by working closely with the client to streamline the worksheet, removing nine questions to create a more user-friendly flow. To validate this approach, I developed interactive wireframes and conducted unmoderated usability testing with five prospective and current college students via email, providing them with clear instructions and targeted questions to gather feedback.
The final phase involved designing the user interface using the existing brand palette and visual elements, ensuring seamless integration with the broader website while creating an intuitive, conversion-focused experience.
Challenges
This project presented two significant challenges that required creative solutions. First, I needed to convince the client to reduce the number of questions without compromising their scoring methodology. Through collaborative analysis, we identified which questions could be removed while preserving the integrity of their assessment system.
The second challenge was conducting user testing with no allocated budget. Recognizing the critical importance of validation, I took initiative to source participants through professional and personal networks. I developed a comprehensive email-based testing protocol with clear instructions and targeted questions, allowing participants to evaluate the interactive prototype remotely and provide valuable feedback that informed the final design.
